In his latest series Studio 1, Tommy Dobson combines colour theory with creative still life photography. Using Johannes Itten’s colour wheel theory as the foundation for his photographs, Dobson has captured visual metaphors based on his own experience of social trends in current culture.
Dobson’s practice has transitioned from outdoor documentary photography to digital advertising photography. He explores the craft and the skills that are required to produce images to industry standard, the collection of photographs showcases his ability to photograph content for a wide variety of advertising sizes. The title, Studio 1 pays homage to the environment where he learnt his trade, relying on C-Stands and clamps which were an essential tool to this series.
