Artist’s Statement

In her final major project Sophie-Alice explores themes relating to her personal life, including disabilities, mental health, friendship and mind state. She shows these themes through the appropriation of other artists work whilst incorporating her own belongings, and tailoring the display to make it relevant to herself. The three artists work that Sophie-Alice has appropriated are that of Tracey Emin and her messy bed, Jon Baldersarri and his block colour portraits and Moschino’s fast food runway collection. The work as a whole is an insight into the different parts that make Sophie-Alice who she is, the struggles she faces not only as a disabled student, but the struggles she faces daily both physically and mentally.
