Serena Maria Zerbino’s project is based on her home town; Folkestone, Kent. Looking at the place subjectively Serena aims to show the town from her perspective, but without promoting the town. She wants to focus on both the positive and negative aspects which bring the place together to make it what it is. This strategic process allows the project to not only portray a good side of the location, but to create a balanced representation of the location by including all of its aspects, being good or bad.
The project, has been influenced by the aesthetics of landscapes and the genre of landscape photography and most importantly will be kept straight in the sense that no modifications will be made to the images. This aspect will allow the work to reflect the formality of landscape photography, even though there are urban spaces within the work.
