Artist’s Statement

Antoanet, an undergraduate student at UCA Rochester, is interested in digital art, history and location. Her work is based on the story of the Great Fire of London 1666.
On the 2nd September 1666, the fire spread across the capital, causing flames to demolish buildings and creating a smell of dusty smoke. Antoanet was inspired by Jan Griffier, Lieve Verschuier and Grzegorz Baran. She travelled to London at specific locations to search for buildings that survived the Great Fire of London. Antoanet transforms her photography into digital art. She chose 3 location images that outline different moments during the fire. Antoanet used her imagination how they would look, if they were on fire at that time in 1666.These buildings are still standing today.
